The 2025 James Beard Basis Media Awards came about on June 14 in Chicago, and Eater Chicago’s Ashok Selvam gained the Jonathan Gold Native Voice Award. The award acknowledges, in line with the Beards, “the work of a person who engages readers by enterprising meals and eating protection, and whose work shows versatility in type, similar to opinions, profiles, cooking, fast hits, and laborious information reporting.”
As well as, Punch was acknowledged with a journalism award within the Beverage class for Craig Sauers’s characteristic story on the Herculean challenges that distilleries face in Thailand. This award acknowledges “distinctive model, thorough data, plainspoken prose, and revolutionary method in a single article on alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks.”
These wins got here amongst six nominations for Eater and Punch, together with nominations for Eater correspondent Jaya Saxena for the MFK Fisher Distinguished Writing Award, Eater Chicago freelance contributor Nylah Iqbal Muhammad within the Foodways class, Eater’s video group within the Business Media class, and a further nomination within the Beverage class for Punch contributor Mickey Lyons. This marks Eater’s thirteenth and Punch’s fourth James Beard Media Award prior to now eight years.
